I'm having a hard time this morning. I found out earlier today about the sudden passing of artist Todd Marrone. My heart goes out to his wife and children. He will be missed.

In 1974, God made a beautiful glowing ball of creativity, sprinkled it with art dust, wrapped it in skin, installed an abrasive voice box and called it Todd Marrone ( I say this, not as a megalomaniac who writes in the first person, but as a friend.

I’m not an artist, anymore than I am a writer, philosopher, performer, comedian, musician, chef and father. I’m not an artist anymore than you are. We all like to make things. If you don’t believe me, try making something besides excuses… see how you feel. A thing does not end, nor begin, with the maker. Things are consumed, produced and consumed again within an aesthetic ecosystem. I nudge my work, encourage it, steer it but I don’t make it from scratch nor do I individually own it. It doesn’t just create a dialogue, it is a dialogue. I am a participant in the conversation. A thread in the tapestry. A rung in the ladder. - See more at: - See more at:

  1. Todd Marrone was my favorite person. He used to inspire me with the life's ups and downs and given me strength through his art to fight all the odds of life and then live.

    God bless his soul!!!
