Welding 101

Details: This 3 week class covers Oxygen-Acetylene welding and cutting, MIG, TIG, Plasma Cutter, and various grinding and metal finishing techniques.  Students will learn all the processes and have the opportunity to create a small-scale sculpture or functional craft. No previous experience necessary.

Details: Have you ever wondered where artists get their ideas from?   Have you ever had an artistic block?  In this class we will explore different techniques and options on how to gather inspiration for art projects.  Once the idea is established, we will be creating organic or creature/figure type sculptures.  The class will start out by exploring the surroundings of PSG and capturing images of textures, patterns and anything that catches the eye.  Once the idea is set, the sculpting will begin using water clay.  Once the piece is sculpted a waste mold will be made out of plaster and then cast in plaster.  Any finishing details can then be done to the finished cast, ex. paint, stain, etc.

TIG Basics

Details: This 2-hour session will teach you the basics of TIG Welding and give enough time to practice the skills needed & ask questions. Working 2 on 1 with the instructor there is a lot of time for one-on-one instruction.  No prerequisites.

Face Casting

















1- Day Intensive

Details: This class will teach the basics of face casting in a  rubber mold.  You can cast your own or cast bring a face model with you.  We will be taking a mold and casting it in plaster.  If the rubber mold is taken care of properly, it can last for years of projects & experiments.  Please note skin allergies, we are using rubber, soap and baby oil.


Spheres on Fire





















1-Day Intensive
Sunday, November 3rd 1:00-6:00pm
Instructor: Bevan Weissman
Price: $100.00 + $20.00 Materials Fee

Details: This one-day intensive project-based workshop takes students through the races of creating a decorative spherical oil lamp. We will use the oxy-acetylene torch to cut designs into a hollow stainless steel sphere, and then embed an oil lamp inside to create a beautiful and functional art piece. No previous experience necessary.

Aluminum Casting






















1-Day Intensive
Saturday, November 9th 11:00-5:00pm
Instructor: Gustavo Actis

The Aluminum Casting Workshop is a 6-hour workshop where you will learn how to make a simple 2 part Greensand mold of a pattern and then how to cast the piece in aluminum. Each participant does the entire process from start to finish and will have a finished piece to take home with them at the end of class. No prior experience is necessary.

Japanese Stab Binding

This two-session workshop demonstrates creating archival quality books using the Japanese stab binding technique. In the session we will cover how to handle paper, set the grain, create torn edges, an overview of paper & book glues, correctly setting book board, and various sewing patterns of stab binding. The course fee includes workshop materials and the tools to continue making books.

Details: Use simple carving tools to carve easy-cut linoleum blocks, creating your own stamps.  Your original designs can be used to customize stationary, holiday greeting cards or create art prints.  Handmade creative original designs are great to correspond with your loved ones, especially during the Holidays!

Blanket Molds 101

Details: This four week long class is an introduction to rubber blanket molds. Students will learn how to create a rubber blanket mold and plaster mother mold on a small sculpture. No previous experience necessary.


Slip Casting

Details: Do you want to learn how to make molds and produce multiples of your pieces? In this class we will learn how to make one and two part molds for slip casting.  You will learn how to make and use press molds. Learn how to use found objects as prototypes and learn how to make your own originals for molds. 


Bronze Patina 101 & 102

Part 1- Introduction to techniques for traditional bronze patina. We will
discuss hot patinas mostly and get into some cold basics . Great for the sculptor 
planning to cast in bronze. 

Part 2 - Advanced techniques for bronze sculptors. We will discuss more complex color
combinations and brush methods. Patina ideas for abstract bronzes and lots of 
info for supplies & books.
