THIS WEEKEND! POST East of Broad


This weekend is POST (Philadelphia Open Studio Tours) East of Broad. Come check out the artists at the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym at 1834 E. Frankford Avenue in Fishtown! We are right in the middle of the Frankford Ave arts district and just off the Berks El stop! Plenty of parking, easy to walk to, near lots of amazing restaurants...AND lots of artists all in one place. Come check it out from 12-6pm on Saturday and Sunday!

Mural Arts Month: First Friday Celebration at PSG

Artists Brad Carney and Mike Konrad, Sculpture Gym Director Darla Jackson, and student artists welcome the community to celebrate First Friday with a short presentation on Mural Arts' new exterior lenticular mural project, Invisible Avenue: An Exploration in Color. Guests will enjoy tasty treats from Yumtown USA, and an Instagram photobooth with students' preliminary drawings that will serve as the backdrop.

at FIGMENT Phila this Sunday!

This Sunday, October 6th, 11am-5pmFIGMENT Phila comes to Clark Park for a day of interactive art projects, performances, workshops, games, crafts, and music to inspire your creativity!

Philadelphia’s first annual FIGMENT Phila brings an explosion of creative energy to the city with over 40 interactive art projects from artists throughout the region.  Participants will be invited to design, manipulate, move through, piece together, work together, and lend their creative voices to this hands-on celebration of interactive art and the community where anything is possible. 

With interactive art projects in every imaginable medium, there will be something to excite and delight everyone. You can find the mapa full list of art projects, and directions to Clark Park on the FIGMENT Phila website

FIGMENT Phila is an open invitation to broaden the definition of art by breaking down the wall between spectator and artist and encouraging everyone to participate. FIGMENT is completely free to the public and yet non-commercial, independently produced by volunteers and artists. You make FIGMENT happen! Coldhearted III: CALL FOR VENDORS



Coldhearted III: An Art/Craft Event
December 6th and 7th, 2013
Submission Deadline: November 20, 2013

We're looking for a wide variety of artists, collectives, craftspeople and small businesses that are creating high quality, affordable items, including (but certainly not limited to): art of all kinds, handmade goods like bags, jewelry, housewares, etc, food items (we love food), plant items such as terrariums or flower arrangements, fabulously curated vintage selections, clothes, local businesses promoting appropriate services (massages, art classes, etc..) and more...  Unconventional is good. We like unconventional.

Venue
The Philadelphia Sculpture Gym, located in the heart of Fishtown, at 1834 E. Frankford Avenue. Each selected vendor will receive an approx. 8ft long space.  You must supply your own table and chair(s). (We have some tables available for $5 each. Be sure to contact us if you are interested in renting one.)

Cost
Selected artists will pay $50 for the 8ft space for one day, $75 for both days.  Payment will be due by December 1, 2013.  Instructions for payment will be sent along with selection notification.

Installation
Selected artists/crafters can set up Fri., Dec. 6, 12-5pm.

PSG Flea Recap!


PSG Flea was a really fun event and I just wanted to give a huge thanks to PSG Shop manager Laura Conklin for organizing it! Laura, you did an amazing job! Everyone had a great time...Olivia especially (she made out like a bandit!) We hope to do it again in the Spring...in the meantime, if you are interested keep an eye out for the upcoming Call for Artists for Coldhearted, a sale of art and handmade items December 6th and 7th!

 Check them out...we have 3 exciting exhibition opportunities coming up:
- Process Show: WOOD will be our 2nd annual exhibition showcasing woodworking in all its forms
- Small Works will be our 2nd annual exhibition showcasing works in all media that are under 12"h x 12"w x 12"d
-Impossible Books is an exciting collaborative exhibition between writers and sculptors, dreamed up in partnership with Gigantic Sequins, a local literary arts journal.
