IT’S A TRAP!
New work by Jake Henry

Space 1026 is proud to present a new body of work by Philadelphia-based artist,
Jake Henry.
A former Space 1026 member, Henry’s studio practice often references
precarious contemporary themes while staying firmly rooted in the sturdy
craft of past.
It’s a Trap! exhibits a range
of accessible pieces based in metals, printmaking, wood and more. The
show centers around overscale models of the ever-present image of the
cartoon snare.
Born and raised in the small agricultural community of Tipton,
Indiana, Jake Henry moved to Philadelphia to formally study at The
University of the Arts in 1995, joining Space 1026 shortly thereafter,
where he continued to work for the next ten years. He has since moved
his studio into the home he shares with his wife, Assunta; new daughter,
Lemon; and their four dogs and five cats.
Henry’s work has been shown in galleries and museums across Europe and the United States, including the Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts
in San Francisco. His work in sculpture, printmaking, drawing and
painting finds influence in his Midwestern roots, as well as his new
role as Papa.
